Blame

My heart stops at the ring of the phone

You've called me to say, you feel all alone

Your hands are trembling, a blade to your arm

I quietly talk you out, of causing yourself harm

Remember we all love you, I slowly say

Please try to live, at least one more day

Breathe louder, I beg you, so I can hear

I want to make sure, your soul is still near

Listen to my heart, and let yours beat the same

As the line goes dead, I shout out your name

When the police drive up, and say it's too late,

I cry as I pray no one else has your fate

What did I do wrong, how could I let you go?

What should I have changed? I guess I'll never know.
